On The Verge Competition Details & Rules


On The Verge is a multi-level, multi-region music competition designed to give bands of any genre mass exposure in their community and the opportunity for national exposure by touring. Bands will have the opportunity to perform in multiple venues and GET PAID while competing to go on tour. On the verge is open to any band that feels they have what it takes to go on a national tour, any genre of music can enter. Band members must be 18 and up. Anyone under 18 must notify Music Zone so we can obtain written consent from parents or legal guardian.

Criteria

What Music Zone is be looking for:

  • Good Music
  • Promotion skills
  • Performing ability
  • Consistency
  • Audience reaction
  • Band marketing ability
  • Attitude
  • Work ethic
  • Communication skills

Rules
  • Must be at gig on time
  • Must be on and off the stage at time given
  • Must meet the number of people to be judged (Number depends on type of show).
  • Cannot pull no shows or you will be disqualified and will not be considered for any future Music Zone shows or opportunities.
  • No fighting with other bands, fans or attendees (this is a friendly competition)
  • Cannot cancel on the day of show or will be disqualified.


Any of these rules bent or broken will result in points being deducted, disqualification and/or will NOT be considered for any future Music Zone shows or opportunities.

Details

4 to 5 different bands will perform per small show in each county. Based onwhat Music Zone is looking for (criteria above), 2 bands will be picked per show to move on to the bigger shows in the competition per county. When a certain number of bands are reached, the bigger shows will begin in the regions. Picked Bands will have the opportunity to perform in the bigger shows outside of their county to build their fan base and be paid.

From the bigger shows, Music Zone will pick two bands each to represent their region/county in the Finale. A total of 6 bands will perform at the finale in May. One band from each region/county will be picked to go on tour.

There will be a good amount of shows at small and big venues to give bands the chance to perform up to 5 times during the competition. There are paying opportunities at every level of the competition.

The type of tour the winning bands will be going on depends on their genre of music. Music Zone will make the proper arrangements to make sure the bands will be on the right type of tour for the right exposure.
